Motivational letter framework
This is a structure, not a template to copy. Answer each prompt in your own words, in your own voice, and the tool assembles a draft you can copy into your application. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored by us.
1. Who you are and what you are applying for
One or two sentences: your name, what you are studying or plan to study, and which programme you are applying to. Name the funder exactly as it appears on their page.
2. Why you chose this field
Give a specific reason from your own life rather than a general statement. What made you choose this field, and when?
3. Your academic record and effort
State your results honestly. If a term went badly, explain the circumstances briefly and what you changed afterwards.
4. Your financial circumstances
Explain your household situation factually. Do not exaggerate, and do not include ID numbers or banking details in a letter.
5. What you will do with the opportunity
Funders want to see what happens after graduation. Say where you want to work or contribute, and be realistic.
6. Closing paragraph
Thank the reader, confirm that supporting documents are attached, and give a contact number and email address.
